Hi there.

I copy edit and write for Washington, D.C.’s alternative newsweekly, Washington City Paper. (This Tumblr does not represent the views of my employer, blah blah; see a perpetually out-of-date collection of clips here.) I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2010 with bachelor of arts degrees in English and American Studies and a thesis about gentrification and displacement in Anacostia, a neighborhood in Southeast D.C. I’m often conflicted about my straddling of the free world and academia.

I’m into cycling for fun and transportation, not for exercise; traveling around the U.S., preferably by train; mid-century design; riding public transit; dining out; cooking; fancy whiskey-based cocktails; malt liquor; urban planning and historic preservation; indie rock and post-punk (of the late ’80s/early ’90s variety); local politics; and contemporary fiction.

I grew up in central Maryland, which should indicate at least something to others who also grew up in central Maryland.
