I liked this post on The Billfold on small things for which we'll pay (or pay more).
At this moment, my life is—
Too short to not pay for:
- Bikes and subsequent repairs
- Infrequent, but “real,” haircuts from my stylist
- Tailoring/hemming
- My own tab, plus tip
- Framing of posters I’d really like to save
- Vegetables from the Mount Pleasant farmers market
- An Internet connection
- Trains to New York (get yrself an Amtrak credit card)
- Pedicures
Life’s too long to pay for:
- A car
- Makeup
- Clothes that aren’t on sale
- A cup of coffee
- Holiday decorations/getups
- Meat that I won’t get around to cooking at home
- Anything related to a TV
- Bus rides and the subsequent time investment
- Manicures
